Alexander Hess

 

Alex has focused his practice, over the past 15 years, on both complex commercial litigation and insurance coverage litigation. Alex graduated from Northwestern University School of Law, after completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to joining Lindemann Miller Bowen, Alex practiced at firms in both Chicago and Madison.  

Representative Matters

Representative matters on which Alex has served his clients as lead or co-lead counsel include claims arising from:

  • Disputes between purchasers and sellers over the interpretation of stock purchase agreements and asset purchase agreements governing corporate transactions
  • Disputes between parties to commercial transactions involving alleged fraudulent inducement and breaches of representations and warranties
  • Disputes between insurance carriers and Managing General Agents, Managing General Underwriters, and Third Party Administrators related to alleged beaches of contract and breaches of fiduciary duty
  • Disputes between investors and directors and officers of privately held companies involving allegations of corporate mismanagement
  • Disputes between companies related to alleged unfair competition, deceptive trade practices, and tortious interference with contract
  • Insurance coverage disputes involving the interpretation of CGL, D&O, E&O, and professional liability policies
  • Disputes among insurance carriers over the allocation of policyholders’ liability for catastrophic losses across multiple policy periods
  • Disputes between insurance carriers and policyholders involving the policyholders’ alleged fraud and misrepresentations during the underwriting process
  • Alleged bad faith by insurance carriers in the handling of third-party claims
